It is important for every teacher to understand that the strategies for teaching autistic students are to be changed in accordance with the individual child as no to child is the same. The teachers will probably have to try out various strategies at different times and then check which of the strategies work best for a child and which fail.
There are quite a few things that a teacher can do to try and help out the autistic child cope with his or her disability and better communicate as well as better understand the language of the others. -In order to teach the child self control he or she can provide behavior codes and that too in drawings and written charts for the better understanding of the autistic boy or girl
-The teacher ought to give the child fewer choices so that he or she does not get too confused or even overwhelmed as this might lead to the child getting distressed
-He or she ought to keep the voice low and quite and reduce stress as much as possible
-The encouragement that he or she provides to the child should be very clear as well as precise when the child is making progress and showing improvement
-Regular interaction with the parents of the child is vital
-A regular routine will help the autistic child learn and focus
-Physical contact with the child is to be avoided as much as possible
-Making a checklist will always be a great help for the teacher as well as the student
-A teacher should find out what interests the child and what inspires him or rather reinforces him which will give him or her idea of the learning characteristics of autism. It might be that the child likes to talk a walk alone during a break or maybe he or she likes to go to the cafeteria or play in water or sit by the window and the teacher should allow the child to do these as this will increase his interest to attend classes and thus learn
-The teacher should try and get hold of some lesson plans for autistic children from experts if necessary

A prompt teaching method for students with autism is necessary as these children love to follow a routine and a teacher can always try out new strategies to better things up.
